The Ants and the Grasshopper
Anita Chitaya is an African woman with a gift. She knows how to grow food in the face of drought. She knows how to satisfy the hunger of children in her village. But when she learns about the growing forces of climate change and how those arise in countries far wealthier than hers, she decides to do something about it. She decides she must persuade Americans that climate change is real.
Traveling from her home in Malawi to California to the White House, she meets climate sceptics and despairing farmers. Her journey takes her across all the divisions shaping the US: city and country, black and white, wealthy and impoverished. She wants to challenge the deep belief that Americans live on a different planet from everyone else. That takes courage.
